Continuing Successes and Addressing Concerns

Naomi’s service is driven by the long-term success of our district - and ensuring strong consistency and experience to respond to loud voices, big challenges, tough issues, and keep students and educators at the center of our work. She strongly believes every student deserves the opportunity to thrive and that equity means ensuring students have the support and resources to embrace learning to discover and reach their full potential.

Naomi is focused on the following goals for the district:

• Empowering student voice and creating meaningful opportunities for young people to participate in decisions that affect their lives - from their neighborhoods to the whole world - climate action is a real issue for them and see FUHSD expand our efforts that students bring forward

• Closing opportunity gaps so every student has access to the resources, programs, and support they need to succeed - in Silicon Valley, students should not have such disparate experiences with learning

• Supporting the health and well-being of students and educators, including mental health and behavioral health supports

• Preparing every student for success in college, career, and life

• Supporting educators and staff through meaningful professional development and a culture of respect, collaboration, and appreciation - building the path for the next generation to thrive by their own voices and mobility

• Fighting to expand resources to continue to address transportation, food insecurity, housing, and other barriers to learning through an equity lens

• Creating safe spaces for difficult conversations students deserve spaces in their public education to ask big or small questions and express their experience - especially post-pandemic and in the digital age, our students critical thinking and expression is so fragile and important - we bring the community together when we can be sensitive and tender to give everyone their voice

• Strengthening partnerships with families, cities, community organizations, and educational partners to support the whole student - Education Fund to support programs the district could not fund, and a flurry of grant application to catch every dollar we can for the district, and support affinity groups
